Sedation dentistry isn’t just for people who have a fear of the dentist. It also works for patients who have difficulty sitting still for long periods of time, but who also need lengthy dental procedures. Our New Westminster office commonly uses oral sedation. This type enables the patient to have a more relaxed and comfortable experience.
What is Oral Sedation?
Offering a good option for dental patients who experience anxiety at the thought of receiving an injection, oral sedation is administered as pills that the patient takes a short time before the procedure is to begin. After a few moments, a moderate state of sedation occurs, making the patient feel groggy. Typically, the patient does not feel any pain or remember very much about the experience. This procedure is also referred to as oral conscious sedation because the patients do not become fully unconscious.
